Replacement Part Installation - Flap and Flap Seal

Replacing the Flap Components - Flap & Flap Seal

Step 1 - Remove Old Components

Step 1A - Pop Screw Caps

Remove the screw cap covers and unscrew all screws. For most models, the screw heads will be under the exterior screw caps. However, some of our older models have them under the interior screw caps.

Step 1B - Remove Screws

Take the screws completely out and remove the old flap, flap seal, clamp, and spacer. If you have a two-part screw system, the riv-nut screw receptors may also come out.

Step 2 - Align Flap and Flap Seal

Step 2A

Place the flap on a flat surface, exterior (magnet) side up. Place the flap seal, magnet side down, on the flap.

Step 2B

Make sure that the inner magnets of the flap seal align perfectly with the magnets of the flap (sides and bottom).

Step 3- Place New Flap and Flap Seal on Pet Door

Step 3A

Put the flap and flap seal in place against the exterior of the pet door frame.

Step 3B

Ensure the outer magnets of the flap seal align perfectly with the frame magnets when viewed from the side and the bottom.
Perfect magnet alignment is critical to the door’s energy efficiency.

Step 3C

Double check the flap-seal-to-flap magnet alignment. Make any adjustments needed and recheck all the frame alignment.

Step 3D

When all magnets are properly aligned, the top of the flap and flap seal should overlap the weatherstrip foam at the top.
