Wall-Mounted Pet Door Installation

Wall-Mounted Pet Door Installation

How is a RANGER Wall-Mounted Pet Door Installed?

RANGER wall-mounted doors are engineered to install and trim out like much like a window. This allows the pet door to be used in walls of virtually any thickness. It also allows the pet door to be installed in a code-compliant manner that meets standards for energy efficiency and proper flashing and sealing.

The recommended installation would be to slide the pet door into the rough opening from the exterior side, with the flap system sticking out a bit from the siding (to ensure its smooth operation). The pet door is then shimmed to plumb and square, and screwed into place through the jambs with the decorative screws (included).

From there, the door is sealed around the perimeter from the inside with low-expanding foam. This is what provides your weather seal around the door. From there, anything on the interior is protected from the elements and is decorative only.

Just like a window, you can trim the remaining wall cavity with jamb extensions or a drywall wrap. Many people use the same type of trim used for their windows for a matching look, but there really are endless options.
